NOTES In Memorium was an unimaginative way to remember Sonny Boy Williamson. It is simply a cut-for-cut reissue of The Real Folk Blues with (uncredited and edited) liner notes by British critic Paul Oliver taken from Portrait In Blue. Sonny Boy had taken Europe by storm and Chess could not even ask the brilliant bluesmen (Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Spann, etc.) who were there with him on the 1963 and 1964 American Folk Blues Festivals to tell America about it. The result is today, few Americans remember or ever knew about Sonny Boy's phenomenal European success except for a few overlooked Yardbirds, Animals and Storyville albums many pass over for his "real" Chess and Trumpet classics. A Jukebox EP was also issued.
Many thanks to Finn M. Reinhardtsen of Horten, Norway, for providing image of the album cover and description of the LP contents.
